Yep, I've skinned deer with everything from big hunting knives to flint flakes, but I have found nothing better than my OT77 Muskrat for skinning deer, or about anything else. Next best are these little Victorinox bird's beak paring knives with about a 1" blade. I've used cotton balls. They seem to work fairly well, but ya gotta really pack them in around the wick. BTW, that's a kewl old lighter. I'm partial to Imcos. Seems the fuel lasts longer with the Imco design, and adding flints is far easier with no lost parts.
